steps of my life.

age 00-06 can't really remember much of my life at that time. i was born in mount alvernia hospital on 18th Nov 1982. between 0-2 years old, i stayed in a private apartment at geylang which my grandpa own. remember nutZ about that period of my life, but after much pester, my mom told me my brother used to tie this rope between the 2 tricycles (as I couldn't ride at tt time) so that i can ride too, and when he did a sharp turn or something, my bike will lose balance, and fall flat on my face. but i'll still be contented to be able to ride. *sheesh* |
age 07-12 my primary school life. well that have to be the best time of my life-- the carefreeness and lack of stress. i can alwiz remember how me and my brother wake up every sunday just to catch the early morning cartoons, remember MASK and carebears? how we watch WWF together and practise the skills learned on our "boxing ring" (a.k.a the bed) i remember being the small sized me (OH GOD WHAT HAPPENED TO ME???) being swinged and slammed on the bed. my best fren, Liyan, stayed in the block next to ours and often joined in the "practice". if my brother is not in or when we choose to keep him away, the both of us will indulge in hours of barbie playing. i will watch button moon all day long, When I got older, it was roller blading. we moved to where i am currently staying (behind st garbage) when i was primary 4, but coz the roller hockey and roller blading 'gang' stayed in PP, i alwiz take a bus back to PP to play with them. really, those were the times, zeropoints, one-leg...sweet memories.....
age 13-16 serangoon secondary school. this is the place where i spent my precious teenage years. this is not an ordinary neighborhood school, but it is one that is famous for notorious students. theft, fighting, extortion, the students have done it all. that is absolutely true, but it is really not as bad as it sounds. other than having to see one Ah lian and/or Ah beng at every 10 steps, it is quite an okay place. i mean, i made it. i survived all the peer pressure, good teachers, lousy teachers, puberty, crushes, puppy love, examinations. i made many good friends, those that i do think will be with me for the rest of my life too. |
age 17-18 managed to do okay after (trying to) slog real hard at PP mac in 1998 for the silly O levels and dropped my butt onto ajc. well well, the skool doesn't look quite.... happening, but i was hoping something good will happen. it din. *sigh* but well I have not really expected a lot. it's not like college life sux, but prolly coz there isn't really much of school spirit, so it is quite lifeless. there was nada sense of identity and belonging in the school. lucky for me, i made great friends from both band and class. basically we should blame no one but the fact that MRT is just beside the school for going to town like almost everyday after school. who can forget the "zao lecture tuesdays?" and "neoprint trips" all the way to bugis or taka. alwiz remember the fun times we had, like the family day '99/'00, ala carnivals, how we went town in our tees, shorts n slippers ( i still remember the tub sarah carried) and how we all wore our 'pink corour' shirt. of coz there was the trip to lil' india ( the super hot curry?), the trip to mr nathan's house (where mr nathan suddenly had 3 indian gers in his class), the lil' BBQ thingy at beckz's place. oh ya who can forget shakespeare dae? the silly wings are falling cotton wools, the fairies, witches and all...
age 19 and beyond here i am, after surviving yet another major exam. singapore management university. the 3rd university of singapore, it is but 2 years old. lots of publicity is required, tons of people not knowing whatthefu*k the school is, whether it is a private school, or a government funded. sigh. but i find it real cool, cos unlike the JC system, we study in seminar rooms that accomodate up to 40 students, and it is more like a small scale lecture, where lecturers will actually know your name and interact. this is one place where you cannot be in if you like to hide in the back row of the LT to sleep and remain unknown for the rest of the school term. lessons are more interesting, and having laptops means you can illegally play online games (lan games even) and icq in front of the teacher, clicking away just like the nerd sitting at the first row. |
